Bathing and swimming

The Walchensee is not only popular among sailors and surfers but also among bathing guests. It counts to the cleanest lakes in the whole of upper Bavaria (drinking water quality!). With its fully accessible shore without disturbing buildings, natural gravel beaches and absolutely quiet beaches the smaragd couloured, crystal clear lake invites you to linger. It is just ideal to relax and splash around at the shore but alos for a powerful swim or for a short, refreshing bath after biking or hiking.

The many shallow beaches are ideal for families with children and all pleasure-loving people whose idea of a fantastic holiday is bathing in a dream-like landscape.

The water temperature in summer on the average lies between 18 and 22 ° C. No matter whether on foot, by bike or boat - look for your favourite bathing spot - you have a big choice. You can find bathing spots in the villages Walchensee, Urfeld and Einsiedl, on the peninsula Zwergern, between Urfeld and Sachenbach and at the Walchensee south shore. The water rescue service (Wasserwacht) in Walchensee is present from the beginning of May until the middle of September on weekends and national holidays and can be contacted 365 days a year via alarm call. Alarm call number: 112 or 08858 19222. In the summer months guest children have the opportunity to take part in "beeing in the water rescue service on the Walchensee" where they are given an insight in the water rescuers work and can even go on a little trip on the rescuers motorboat.

Boating

Grossansicht in neuem Fenster: Kinder am SeeuferGrossansicht in neuem Fenster: Badende SeebesucherEmbedded in a romantic mountain scenery quietly coasting in a boat..., enjoying the quietude..., recharging your batteries - an experience for any age. With the rowing boat, pedal boat, canoe or sailing boat (no motor boats) you can explore the remotest corners of this picturesque lake - no matter whether in the calm mornings or amid the light waves later on. Numerous shallow places enable an easy landing. Only the island Sassau is a nature reserve and can not be visited.

No matter whether your accomodation is in Walchensee, Einsiedl or Urfeld - you can rent boats everywhere.

In the summer months the Tourist Info offers a boating trip for the whole family. The destination - after paddling with canoes, kayaks or Canadian boats - is a beautiful place where we play games together, have a picnic and bathe.
